What a great day!
On February 16th we got together as a family to have a special time to commemorate our sweet mother Peggy Jackson's life. It was one year since her passing on February 12th. Dad got a family pass for all of us to be able to go to the Phoenix Zoo together. It was the perfect day for such an outing! Not too hot or cold. We had a wonderful time strolling through all of the animal exhibits and watching the kids excited faces to see something like this in the flesh. We stopped at a picnic area at noon and had a wonderful luncheon of sub sandwiches, chips, fruit, and punch. Of course everything always tastes better on a picnic right? Dad's sweet friend Zola joined us after lunch for the rest of our zoo trip. It was great fun having her along with us. After our zoo trip was done we all met at Tim and Cara's house where they had prepared a wonderful dinner for everyone. We had salad, roast, twice baked sour cream potatoes, fresh green bean casserole, and rolls, followed by a delicious dessert. The highlight of our evening was a very special video that Tim had made of our sweet Mama. It made us laugh and cry. Those memories are more precious than gold! We had a lovely time together. In reflection I think it has been the best time we have had as a family since Mom's passing. I am thankful for the memories we have of her, and look forward to the new memories we will make in the future!
